Catchbox Throwable Microphones
Description

The Catchbox is a wireless throwable microphone that facilitates audience engagement and interactive participation activities. These are installed in several large lecture halls, and may be borrowed from the OTDI Classroom Services Service Desk for use in classroom pool rooms with wireless mic-capability.

Getting Started:

The Catchbox sits on a square charging pad on top of the podium. When the box is removed from the charging pad, it will be able to be used for voice amplification

  • To adjust the volume, tap the microphone icon on the bottom bar on the touchscreen. This will open the volume controls for the wireless mics.
  • The center button can be used to mute the microphone, and when muted the button will turn red.
  • If you turn the mic on and audio is not amplifying, do the following:
    • Ensure the mic is not muted (the button will be red if it is).
    • Ramp the volume by tapping the minus symbol until the volume slider is all the way down, and then tap the plus symbol until the volume is all the way up.
      • You may have to repeat this process for the mic to be picked up by the system. If it does not pick up, please call the helpline on the phone number posted in the classroom and a tech will be dispatched to assist you.
    • Note: some rooms do not have speakers above the podium, so even though you may not sound like your voice is being amplified, the audience will still hear you through ceiling speakers.
  • At the end of your class, place the wireless mic back on the charger and ensure the red light displays to indicate it is properly charging for the next user.
