Getting Started in Classrooms

Quick Start:

To start, tap on the black touch screen to wake it up.

  • Select Connect a Device.
  • If you would like to use the in-room computer, select Podium PC. This will deploy the projector screen from the ceiling and power on the projector. (The projector may take a few seconds to warm up.)
    • Wake the computer by pressing the spacebar or moving the mouse. Press enter on the keyboard to begin the login process and follow the onscreen directions to log in.
  • To use your own device or a document camera, select Change Source.
    • Document Camera allows you to show documents or items with the camera on the podium.
    • Aux Input allows you to connect your own device via the input plate on the front or side of the podium and your own cable.
      • An HDMI cable will transfer both audio and video.
      • VGA cables only transfer the video signal. An additional aux cable will be required for audio. (This option is phasing out.)
    • HDMI Cable- refers to a provided HDMI cable coming out of the podium.
    • Wireless Display allows you to wirelessly connect your device without cables, by visiting a displayed ip address in your web browser.
  • When you are finished with the room, tap the power icon in the bottom right of the touch panel to shut down the system.

Other features:

  • Black Screen will mute the projector image but allow you to still see the computer screen. This lets you type in your passwords, view tests, etc. without the students being able to see your screen.
  • Please ensure that you turn Black Screen off when leaving the room to avoid confusion for the next instructor.
  • Lighting:
    • For rooms are equipped with lighting controls, there will be a light bulb icon on the bottom bar to access controls.
      • Chalkboard Lights are those nearest the front of the room.
      • There may be a short delay when utilizing lighting controls.
      • For safety reasons, please remember to turn all the lights back up at the end of your time in the room.
